No matter how you look at it, Barack Obama has a tough road ahead of him. All along his Die Hard supporters have been the youth and those that just don’t like Hillary. The prospect of voting for someone who lends an ear to a racist is a lot scarier to many than voting for Hillary Clinton. When you see opinion pieces like the following, written by Barack Obama’s own supporters you know he is no longer on the fast track to victory:

“I keep reading blog comments from liberals who believe that the Obama-Wright controversy is manufactured, that it’s much ado about nothing, that it’s ridiculous to hold Obama responsible for what his pastor says, etc.

This is whistling past the graveyard. It’s one thing to believe that it shouldn’t be an issue. But that’s not the world we live in. The Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s views are not news. Obama’s been in that church for 20 years. He’s identified Wright as his spiritual father. Yet Wright is in every apparent respect the antithesis of the irenic, transracial healing figure that Obama presents himself as, and that many people believe him to be.
Wright has openly embraced the “black liberation theology” of James Cone, a prominent theologian who has advocated some pretty shocking things, to wit:

Black theology refuses to accept a God who is not identified totally with the goals of the black community. If God is not for us and against white people, then he is a murderer, and we had better kill him. The task of black theology is to kill Gods who do not belong to the black community … Black theology will accept only the love of God which participates in the destruction of the white enemy. What we need is the divine love as expressed in Black Power, which is the power of black people to destroy their oppressors here and now by any means at their disposal. Unless God is participating in this holy activity, we must reject his love.

Good luck explaining yourself, Obama. Any white presidential candidate couldn’t come within 1000 yards of a church that hailed a theologian preaching that kind of racist claptrap.

Can you just imagine the 527 ads this fall? All they’ll have to do is run constant commercials of the Rev. Wright saying “God damn America!” and they’ll shellack Obama. I’m not an Obama voter, but I was one of the board members who voted for us to recommend Obama in the Democratic primary, because I thought he’d be a better candidate than Hillary. Now I’m not sure at all. I’ve thought for some time that Wright could be Obama’s Achilles heel. Obama’s got to give a hell of a speech tomorrow about all this in Philly.”
