According to Foxnews, Howard Gutman, a member of the Barack Obama finance committee said on “The Laura Ingraham Show,” that Sarah Palin is not a good mom, and should be putting her family first, dealing with her daughter’s pregnancy, and taking care of her baby before she is McCain’s vice presidential candidate. He clearly criticized her mothering abilities, and said, “If my daughter had just come home at 17 years old and said, ‘Mom, Dad, I’m pregnant, we have a family problem,’ I wouldn’t say, ‘You know what we’re going to do? We’re going to take this private family problem … I’m going to go on the international stage and broadcast it to the world’, If you take a daughter who’s got this emotional strife and subject her to the most intense scrutiny of the world at this time in her life, I think you’ve put your career above your family.”

Of course, the Obama campaign said that they reject Gutman’s comments, and published this statement, “Obviously these comments do not reflect our frequently stated, crystal-clear view that families of the candidates should be off limits, and we hope that supporters on both sides will act accordingly,”

However, Gutman also went on to say, “The proper attack is not that a woman shouldn’t run for vice president with five kids, it’s that a parent, when they have a family in need, a Down’s baby who needs them — a father or mother,” he said, unsuccessfully trying to claim that he was not making sexist comments. “This wasn’t a working mother issue, this was a parent issue,” he said.

And the sexism lives on….
