The right wing conservatives have gotten to senator John McCain. In Richardson, Texas, Fox reports, that McCain said to a laughing audience, “I’m a proud, conservative, liberal Republi- Hello! Easy there.” Of course, this will make many wonder if he has been preaching the liberal message too much, quite a plausible reason for the slip.
Then again, maybe it was just a way to get back at Rush Limbaugh. Either way, it was a big slip for someone like John McCain-someone conservatives view as too liberal for the candidacy.
