Today John McCain was on the View Republican presidential candidate John McCain said running mate Sarah Palin is a good pick for the country because of what he calls her reformer credentials. (similar to him maverick credentials)

Appearing Friday on the television show “The View,” John McCain said that the Alaska governor would reform spending for lawmakers’ pet projects. He also said that she didn’t request earmarks as governor — which is not true (says the AP. Palin sought nearly $200 million in such earmarks this year.)

While John McCain on the View, John McCain says he’s very happy with his selection of Sarah Palin for the ticket. He says “she’s ignited a spark in America.” But he also acknowledges that they sometimes have different views.

John McCain defended TV commercials criticizing his Democratic opponent, Barack Obama, saying “they’re not lies.”
