Joe Biden in the gaffe of the day forgot that Herbert Hoover was the president during the Great Depression in 1929 and there were no Televisions. However were there some early adopters with Televisions in 1929 they would certainly have been surprised to see Herbert Hoover deposed as president and replaced by someone who would only become president years later. Here is the gem below:
Joe Biden says today’s leaders should take a lesson from the history books and follow fellow Democrat Franklin D. Roosevelt’s response to a financial crisis.
“When the stock market crashed, Franklin D. Roosevelt got on the television and didn’t just talk about the, you know, the princes of greed. He said, ‘Look, here’s what happened,’
Barack Obama’s running mate recently told the “CBS Evening News.”Except, Republican Herbert Hoover was in office when the stock market crashed in October 1929.FDRwas elected three years later when voters denied Hoover a second term. The Democratic challenger appealed to the “forgotten man” by promising a “new deal” to solve the Depression era.
If Sarah Palin was making this mistake you would certainly expect people to be pointing out how inexperienced she is and she is not ready for the vice presidency. Yet, when Joe Biden makes dumb mistakes like these it is cute.
