“Heading into tonight, this race was too close to call, so we prepared a release for either scenario,” state GOP spokesman Bill Nowling said. “We simply pushed the wrong button,” was the excuse for the mistake made earlier tonight. A message went out congratulating Mccain on his Victory in Michigan, while Mitt Romney turned out to be the true winner. The first message sent out by the GOP was “In a close-fought victory, Senator John McCain succeeded again (in) the Michigan Republican primary, winning over a traditionally unpredictable voter base in Michigan.” This was then followed five minutes later by a message reading “In a close-fought victory, native son Governor Mitt Romney won an important contest here tonight.”
