Fred Thompson has quit and dropped out of the presidential nomination. Today, in a short statement Thompson said, “Today, I have withdrawn my candidacy for president of the United States. I hope that my country and my party have benefited from our having made this effort.”
The South Carolina primaries seemed to have encouraged Thompson to drop out of the race. Thomson had said earlier that if he did not win South Carolina he would most likely drop out of the race.
