Since Democratic New York Governor Elliot Spitzer has been caught behaving as a dirty politician, will diverge from our election coverage to give an opinion on his behavior. As a blog devoted to covering all dirt, this story is too good to pass up, however it is worth noting in the context of the election that Elliot Spitzer is a superdelegate already committed to Hillary Clinton.
First from the New York Post:

March 11, 2008 — Gov. Eliot Spitzer has been soliciting high-priced hookers for at least six years and possibly for more than a decade, sources tell The Post.

The revelation yesterday that the crusading governor was in fact “Client 9” named in a federal prostitution indictment did not shock insiders in the city’s sex industry.

Sources tell The Post that Spitzer had frequented high-priced hookers as far back as 2002 and possibly earlier.

Analysts will debate to no end what caused such a powerful man to stoop so low. My only question is what caused him to be so stupid. If he truly wanted to ruin his career and his family there was options that did not make him look like a hypocrite. 6 years of criminal activity is more than a little slipup.

He was caught because of suspicious wire transfers which put the IRS on his tail. Did he think he was better than every other person he hunted down? For the sake of all the people that he threw the book at, I hope the book is thrown at him. Elliot Spitzer broke the law, a law he was supposed to enforce, and for that he should be punished to the fullest extent possible.
