Former president George H.W. Bush plans to announce his support for John McCain this Monday at a press conference. This move will be extremely beneficial to McCain and as Mike Allen says, “It also undercuts Republicans who are reluctant to fully support McCain because of his past differences with the party’s right wing.”

This move by the former president will also, republicans are hoping, encourage Huckabee to drop his campaign and end his position in the race for president. If he doesn’t, it may look like he is not a team player, something that will further upset republicans and lessen his support.
